The little town of Mason, NH is located about 20 miles west of Nashua, NH and is bordered on the south by Townsend, MA, on the east by Brookline, NH and on the west by Greenville and New Ipswich, NH. This area is located within two hours of a wide variety of activities, some listed below. The town of Mason itself is home to many interesting sites. "Downtown" consists of a few houses, an old wooden Colonial church, a Town Hall, School and the former tavern which now houses the town library and offices. If you visit the UCC church in town, try to get someone to show you the bell tower, where slaves were hid during the time of the "underground railroad" in what is now referred to as the "know nothing" room, and ring the old bell with the pull rope. Across the street from the church is the "Ebeneezer Hill" home, a beautiful farmhouse and barn which is now the home of the Rowses, founders of Very Fine Fruit Co. Just down the street is the boyhood home of "Uncle Sam". Mason also has two very quaint, theme restaurants. Pickity Place is the former home of the woman who illustrated the Little Golden Book version of Little Red Riding Hood and is located within an easy walking distance from High Hollow Farm. Illustrations in the book are of familiar scenes from the Mason area. Now, they serve several sittings daily in a "reservation only" style and they also raise herbs and sell craft items. Parker's is a restaurant located on the Brookline side of town and it is a big maple sugar producer as well as a well known area restaurant. Maple sugaring tours and seminars as well as horse and buggy rides can be had at this family oriented restaurant.
