Laser Sources used at PhotoMachining
PhotoMachining uses the best industrial laser sources available on the market, selecting the type of laser to meet specific requirements for each job and for every system we build. The following lasers are most frequently used at PhotoMachining:
Excimer laser discharge Excimer lasers

Lumonics and Lambda Physik lasers
KrF (248 nM), operating up to 200 Hz, with 60W average power.

Carbon dioxide laser head and beam delivery system CO2 lasers

Lumonics Impact lasers for imaging applications. This 9.3 micron TEA CO2 runs up to 300Hz and 50W of average power.

Coherent Diamond laser with control of pulse width and pulse repetition rate up to 20 kHz at 100 W - 500 W. High quality beam provides for less than 75 microns focusability.

Coherent DEOS Q-switched CO2 laser with short pulse width of <150 ns, and line narrowed (9.2 um) output. This laser is ideal for minimal HAZ (heat affected zone)

Solid state lasers

Coherent AVIATM diode-pumped solid-state lasers can be used in the frequency shifted wavelengths (3rd and 4th harmonic). Diode arrays deliver optical pumping through fiber optics thus allowing compact design of the laser head and ultra stable output.

PhotoMachining's standard system configuration includes:
  • 12x12 inches XY translation table with 3 micron accuracy, powered by servo motors. Up to 24" of travel is available.
  • 300X video on-axis camera system with zoom, adjust, illumination, digital crosshair generator
  • ultra stable granite base and breadboards for exceptional vibrational and thermal stability
  • industrial grade rack-mounted computer with Pentium® or better CPU
  • proprietary PhotoMachining control software, running on Windows NT, with capabilities to handle input files in DXF and Excellon2 formats
  • ScanLab galvonometer 2 and 3-axis systems for high-speed beam delivery.
Options include Z-axis translation stage, larger travel XY stages, theta motion, high resolution digital camera coupled to a machine vision system, custom designed robotics for parts handling.
